Janet Simons is a principal in the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District in Acton, California. As principal of the Acton-Agua Dulce elementary school, Ms. Simons is responsible for overseeing a student population of more than 200, as well as a staff of 45. In addition to working with teachers, spending time in the classroom, and attending district meetings, Ms. Simons is also charged with making presentations to the school board, planning the school curriculum, and meeting with parents. Additionally, she leads the school in a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance each morning.

Ms. Simons earned a master’s degree in education from the University of La Verne, and will soon be enrolling in a Ph.D. program. She has been working in the education field for 15 years, and has earned numerous awards along the way, including the Honorary Service Award from the Parent-Teacher Association and the coveted Teacher of the Year Award in 2004.

Though running an elementary school is a demanding job, Ms. Simons still finds time to volunteer with several local charities, including her local church. During her free time she enjoys reading, quilting, and attending the cinema.
